Declare all mandals as drought hit: YSRCP

YSR Congress has demand the TDP government to declare all the mandals in the state as drought hit and pay compensation to the crop loss as the farmer is badly hit by the policies of the State.

“As the farmer is worst hit by the agriculture policy of the State government and it could not provide water in wake of the deficit rainfall, all the mandals in the state should be declared as drought hit and NREGS should be extended to all without relaxation or restriction,’ party spokesperson K Parthasarathi told reporters on Wednesday.

The State has failed to quantify the water it would release to the farmers in the khariff season and has been ignoring agriculture sector as it has done before. With the loan waiver coming a cropper, farmers are driven to indebtedness as they are looking at money lenders.

When the water level at Nagarjunasagar is even at the present level, YSR and other leaders have released water but TDP government has not been following the precedence nor is it in a position to categorically state about the water farmers would get in the time of deficit rainfall.

The delta region has no water for this kharif and no budget for Delta Modernisation scheme as the meager amount spent was used only to modernize the buildings of Chief Minister and the agriculture minister.

Under these circumstances, we demand the government to declare all the mandals as drought-hit and provide work to all the labour under NREGS besides providing compensation to the crop loss, he said.
