Hyderabad: Ivanka Trump’s Hyderabad visit has come as a blessing in disguise of sorts for some of the residents of Western Hyderabad with the state government leaving no stone unturned to give certain parts of the city a complete makeover. Flyovers are colourfully painted, beggars picked up and shifted to state-run homes and stray dogs taken off the roads. Citizens suddenly woke up to the sight of new sidewalks lining the roads.

As a result of all this frenetic activity by the State, netizens of other parts of the city have been posting invitations on social media urging Ivanka Trump to visit their localities so that civic authorities would wake up to much-needed repairs there, as well.

Meanwhile, Whatsapp groups have been having a field day with all kinds of fake messages, including some in which Ivanka is supposed to have responded saying that she would take up the issue with the PM and other authorities. The gullible tend to forward this on the Whatsapp merry-go-round and various versions of these stories are expected to appear on social media for some time.
