Daniel Craig Offered $150 mn to Return as James Bond
Daniel Craig, the 007 actor and played the spy since 2005, has reportedly been offered a hefty sum of $150million (Rs 1,000crore) to return to the franchise for two more films as James Bond. But Craig has made no secret of his reluctance to step back into the famous tuxedo.
The remuneration has been escalating with every movie for Bond franchise. Sean Connery was paid just $17,000 for his work on the first Bond film Dr No in 1962. By the time the second Bond film came out, 1963’s From Russia with Love, Connery’s salary had escalated to $250,000.
And since then it has soared. By the time of 1971’s Diamonds are Forever, Connery was paid $1.2 million and took a slice of the film’s profits. Pierce Brosnan was paid 16.5 million for Die Another Day.
Now Craig, who has already starred in four films in the Bond franchise Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre, has been offered huge remuneration to stay with the franchise.
Craig told the media that he would rather ‘slash his wrists’ than doing another Bond movie.
