Hyderabad: A 20-year-old woman was critically injured by her supervisor at a real estate firm for insisting on marriage, in Velllampalli of Vangur mandal in Nagarkurnool district, on Friday.

The victim Rajeshwari (20) worked as a daily wage worker at a real estate venture in Kadthal mandal. The attacker Naresh was working as a supervisor in the same venture. The acquaintance turned in to a love affair and Rajeshwari began insisting on marriage. Naresh, a father of two children, hatched a plan to eliminate her. On Friday, he invited her to Velllampalli of Vangur on some pretext and stabbed her after slitting her throat.

A critically injured Rajeshwari managed to flee from the spot and attracted the attention of locals who alerted the police. Naresh then ran away. She was rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad. “The woman managed to escape and has been shifted to a state-run hospital in Hyderabad," a police officer said.

Police found a petrol can at the scene of offence and suspected that Naresh planned to kill her, he said. A case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC was registered and a hunt had been launched to nab the accused, police said.
