Cupid Strikes Maoists, 2 Ultras Defy Leadership To Get Married
Two Maoists, who were in love with each other, defied a Maoist diktat and surrendered to the police to start a new life together. In a first-of-its-kind incident, dreaded Maoiss Sona Ormi and Bijala Kadimelu, who are part of the Gangulur Dalam in Odisha's Malkangiri, have surrendered to Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Jag Mohan Meena on Saturday.
Both the Maoists are from Jajpur district and carry a reward of Rs 2 lakh each on their heads. They were involved in incidents like blasting of Govindpalli outpost, Damanjodi attack, attack on police cavalcade in Srirampur and the Balimeli attack on CRPF in 2010. both Sona and Bijalu fell in love and decided to become man and wife. When they approached the Maoist leadership with a request to allow them to marry, the were severely reprimanded. So, the duo decided to shun Maoism and return to the mainstream.
speaking on the occasion, they said that the women were being treated badly in the Maoist organisation and that the Maoists are not giving any protection to the tribals.
