Ongole,Prakasam: A woman named Sumalatha was arrested by the Ongole police for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on Thursday. The incident came to light when the girl filed a complaint with the police on November 4th, stating that she was given sedatives and was sexually assaulted. She also named Sumalatha and her husband Gonugunta Yedukondalu in the complaint.
A case was registered under the POCSO Act 2012 and based on her complaint, the Jarugumalli Police started investigations. Startling facts were unearthed by the Police about Sumalatha. When the Police went to her house and started searches, they found a bag which contained an artificial penis and sex toys in it. Her husband Yedukondalu who understood what his wife was actually doing, jumped off the pent house, out of embarrassment, even as the police were searching their house. He was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Police, under the supervision of SI Lakshman and his team, conducted a thorough investigation, and were shocked to not only see the artificial organs and sex toys, they also discovered love letters, men's clothes and belts used to tie these artificial items etc.
They got to know that she was cross dressing as a man and writing love letters to minor girls and trapping them in the name of love. They seized some letters written to the complainant. The police then focussed their attention on her call data and seized her phone and SIM cards. When they checked her call data, it was revealed that she had called many young girls, speaking in a male tone and trapped them in the name of love.
From the evidence gathered, they realized that the woman had trapped the minor girl in the guise of a man and committed unnatural sexual acts.
Based on the evidence seized, the Jarugumalli police arrested Sumalatha on Thursday and presented her in the Kandukuru court. The Magistrate ordered her to a 15-day remand and sent her to the Ongole district jail.
