Father Takes Own Life Allegedly Upset Over Police Torture In Son’s Missing Case In MP
Bhopal: Depressed over police torture in his son's missing case, a man from Madhya Pradesh committed suicide on Monday by hanging from a tree.
The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Bhur Singh and the incident happened in Alirajpur district of the state under the jurisdiction limits of Sendhwa police station.
According to reports, Singh's family alleged that he took the decision of taking the extreme step following harassment by police officers. They further alleged that police had come to Singh's house in search of his son, Dhirendra, to arrest him in a robbery case which had took place in a local liquor shop.
Meanwhile, Dhirendra tried to escape from the police and ran away from the house. Police then chased him and finding no way out Dhirendra jumped into a river and died on August 27, the family said.
However, police sources believe that the Dhirendra is not dead and the family knows about the whereabouts of him.
Singh's family said that the police department in now trying to cover up the situation to save the policeman who was responsible for Dhirendra's death. Hence, they cooked up a story regarding the death of Dhirendra and tortured Bhur Singh which eventually led to the death of the father.
Angry over the turn of events, kin and friends of Bhur Singh went to the police station and ransacked it.
They are also demanding a probe into the matter and action against the policeman involved into the case.
Further investigation is underway.
