Bullied By Seniors, Class 1 Boy Dies After Being Locked Up Inside Toilet

Chittoor: In an incident of bullying by older school children, a Class I student died after he was locked in a toilet on Monday. The incident took place in Dr B R Ambedkar Municipal Primary School in Eastupeta at Punganuru in Chittoor district.

According to the local police, Harshavardhan was locked inside the school toilet by a few students from the higher classes for more than three hours. The school warden who got to know of the incident rushed to the toilets and opened the door, only to find the boy lying in an unconscious state with a high fever. The school management took him to the local government hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

The boy's family members got into heated arguments with school teachers. They blamed the teaching staff for negligence and had they had responded on time the boy's life would have been saved, they said. They staged protests in front of the school alleging negligence by the school teachers. Police are investigating into the matter.
