Ongole Man Dies As Inebriated Cop Rams Into Bike
Ongole: A police constable rammed his bike into a two-wheeler, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, leading to the death of the biker. The accident happened on flyover service road in Ongole on Tuesday. The accused is the head constable of Ballikuruva police station, PV Subba Rao and has been arrested. He has been sent to judicial remand.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Gollaa Pala Raju who is a native of Maddipadu. He worked as a junior assistant in Kandukuru court.
Police said that Raju was returning home when Subba Rao who was coming from the opposite site allegedly lost control and hit his bike leading to the fatal accident.
A complaint was filed by Raju's father Adivayya and a case has been registered. Meanwhile, Rao tested alcohol positive.
Prakasam Superintendent of Police Siddhartha Koushal told a leading daily that the head constable will be punished as per law.
“No police staff will enjoy special treatment in case they are found guilty of a crime or of negligence while discharging their duties. They will be given due punishment as per the rules,” Prakasam SP was quoted saying.
