Spiritual Guru Anand Giri Sexually Assaulted Women During Prayer Meetings?
Sydney: Self-proclaimed spiritual leader and Yoga guru Anand Giri has been arrested in Australia on the charges of sexually assault.
According to the reports, the Yoga Guru allegedly sexually assaulted two women during prayer meetings. Anand Giri was arrested from Oxley Park in Sydney over two counts of indecency on two women in separate incidents. He and was produced in a court in Sydney on Monday and has been remanded in custody till June 26, 2019.
Posted as a Mahant (junior) at renowned Bade Hanuman temple in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, Anand Giri had reportedly gone to Sydney on a spiritual teaching tour which lasted for almost six weeks and was scheduled to return to India on Monday.
As per the details, he attended a home in Rooty Hill in 2016, where he met a 29-year-old woman for prayers and allegedly assaulted the woman. In another incident, Giri allegedly assaulted a 34-year-old woman in November 2018 at a home in Rooty Hill.
In his now non-functional Facebook page, Anand Giri claims to have got his spiritual calling at the age of 12 and stated his mission - “My mission is to serve others & somehow contribute to making this world a better place, I serve those in need I am not a priest but simply a man who has found his soul.”
