Three Killed, 5 Hurt As Vehicle Falls Into Gorge
Banihal:Three persons were killed and five others injured when a private vehicle skidded off a road and fell into a 200 feet gorge in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Tuesday.
The accident took place Monday night near Seenbatti along the Pogal-Paristan road, about 25 km from Ramban, a police official said.
He said the vehicle was going towards Seenbatti and fell into the gorge after its driver lost control over it while negotiating a blind curve.
A rescue operation was immediately launched and three persons--Milap Singh (55), Keshu Ram (44) and Raju Singh (24) were found dead.
The official said the injured, Reyaz Ahmad (driver), Kalyan Singh, Kartar Singh, Flower Singh and Hari Om were admitted to the Ramban District Hospital after initial treatment at the Public Health Centre in Ukhral. PTI
Teenagar Raped In UP's Muzaffarnagar
Muzaffarnagar: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Bihari village in the district, said police Tuesday.
The youth, identified as Ankit Kumar, was allegedly assisted by his two sisters in committing the crime, police added.
“The girl was alone at home when the incident took place. She has been sent for a medical examination,” police said.
According to a complaint lodged by the girl's family, Ankit came to their house with his sisters and gave "parshad" laced with sedatives before allegedly raping her. PTI
Polling Officer Dies, 24 Injured As Vehicle Overturns In Amethi
Amethi:A polling officer died while 24 others, including security personnel, were injured when their vehicle overturned in the district, officials said Tuesday.
The accident took place when they were on way to deposit EVM machines after polling on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Om Prakash (40) assistant district information officer SD Yadav said.PTI
Two drown In River
Bahraich: Two teenagers drowned in the Rapti River in Nawabganj area of the district here, police said Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday when Lalit Jaiswal, Vijay Rawat, Suraj Baranwal and Akash Soni entered the river to take a bath.
"Suraj and Akash were saved by locals but Lalit (18) and Vijay (19) could not be saved. After almost an hour, bodies of the deceased were recovered. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem," SHO, Nawabganj, Ramji Yadav said. PTI
Woman Gangraped In Rajasthan, Accused Upload Video On Social Media
Jaipur : A woman was allegedly raped by five persons in front of her husband in Rajasthan's Alwar district, police said Tuesday.
The suspects also filmed the crime and uploaded the video on social media, they added.
The incident took place on April 26 when the woman was travelling on a bike with her husband when the suspects stopped them on the Thanagazi-Alwar bypass and dragged the couple to an isolated area, where they allegedly raped the woman and threatened her husband with dire consequences, police said.
"Two of the suspects were identified as Chotelal and Ashok. None of them could be arrested," they said.
An FIR was lodged on May 2 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and SC/ST Act against five accused and efforts are underway to nab them, police said. PTI
Man, Son Killed In Road Accident In Bareilly
Bareilly: A man and his eight-year-old son died, when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car on the Aonla-Ramanagar road in Bareilly, a senior official said Tuesday.
Sub-divisional magistrate Vishuraja said Gyan Chandra, 25, and his son Vivek died in the accident.
His wife Mamta and another son Abhishek have sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to a private hospital here.
The family, a resident of Badaun district, had come to Aonla to attend a wedding on Monday night, when a speeding car hit the motorcycle.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for Autopsy.
