Yadadri: 14-Year old Girl Gang Raped and Thrown into Well

Yadadri: The body of a 14-year old missing girl named Sravani was found in a 50-feet deep well in Bommalaramaram area in Bhuvanagiri Yadadri district on Saturday. The minor girl was reported missing on the 26 of April after she hadn't come back home from school in Keesara. Her family lodged a complaint with the police, who registered a missing case and began investigation.

The Bommalaramaram police suspect that the minor girl was gang raped and thrown into the well in a deserted farm area. While examining the premises around the well, they found beer bottles and grass raising the suspicion that accused probably thought of burning her body, but changed their mind and dumped her into the well. The post mortem reports also show that girl's rib cage was broken and whether she was raped and killed before being thrown into the well is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile the girl's relatives and local villagers staged protests outside the Collectors office, they also stalled traffic on the national highway for more than two hours. The irate villagers also attacked the DCP's vehicle and expressed their angst over the way the whole case was handled by the police. After the post mortem was completed, the family members and villagers took the girl's body to Bommlaramaram and staged a dharna again. They demanded justice for Sravani and that the accused be caught immediately. Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagavath reached the place and assured the villagers and family members that they would catch the accused in 24 hours and punish them. Only after his assurance did the family members complete the girl's funeral.

The Bhuvanagiri Police registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) against the accused who are still at large. The local SI, Venkatesh was transferred to the police head quarters for negligence of duty.

Meanwhile police are verifying CCTV footage from Bommalaramaram to Hajipur . They are also checking the footage near the wine shops to identify the accused. Reports of sale of cocaine, marijuana and other narcotic substances have been reported in this area, prompting the police to examining the angle if any drug addicts were involved in this crime.
