Hyderabad: A Medical officer, three auxiliary nurse-midwifes (ANM) and an in-charge pharmacist were dismissed from the service after two infants died on Thursday in Niloufer Hospital.

35 children were hospitalized on Thursday, a day after they were vaccinated wrongly with Tramadol tablets instead of Paracetamol at the health centre in Nampally. Following this, authorities launched an investigation into the matter.

In response, the director of public health (DPH) along with district Medical and Health Officer were directed to place the Health Supervisor of the Nampally Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) under suspension. Also, instructions have been given to frame charges against the supervisor, SPHOs and DIO.

The DPH has been asked to submit a detailed report on the entire incident by Monday. A case of negligence causing death has been registered against the duty doctors and staff of the Primary Health Centre.

The health condition of two infants deteriorated quickly while undergoing treatment, resulting in their death in the private hospital. The two infants were given the Tramadol tablet after being vaccinated. Rest of the children are stable and are said to be responding to the treatment.
