Tirumala: Vigilance and security personnel of the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) had seized four hookah pots from a group of ten devotees hailing from New Delhi. The incident proves how people can easily sneak in prohibited items past the checks of the Alipiri toll gate. The consumption of alcohol and tobacco are banned in Tirumala.

The group had come to Tirumala late on Saturday, said TTD Vigilance and security officer M Manohar.

“They had got onto a bus at Tirumala in which they carried the Hookah pots. They had rented a room at SNC 315A, a TTD guesthouse, in which they smoked the hookah.”

When someone tipped them off about the tobacco being consumed within the guest house premises, the Vigilance team tracked them down and took the offenders into custody.
