NRI Jayaram Chigurupati Case: Ibrahimpatnam ACP S Malla Reddy Transferred

Ibrahimpatnam ACP S Malla Reddy - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: In what could be construed as a serious damage control measure by the Telangana Police in the NRI businessman Chigurupati Jayaram murder case , Ibrahimpatnam Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Malla Reddy faced the axe when Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat issued orders attaching the ACP to the Civil Police Lines Special Armed Reserve (CPL-SAR) in Amberpet. C.Gandhinarayana, ACP, Vanasthalipupram has been given additional charge as ACP, Ibrahimpatnam.

The investigation found that some police officers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were in touch with prime suspect Rakesh Reddy after the murder of the businessman Jayaram Chigurupati.

It is also alleged that after the murder, Rakesh Reddy contacted two police officials and sought help and guidance from them as to what to next and how to shift the body.Nallakunta Sub Inspector Srinivasulu was transferred on Monday itself.

In separate transfers in Hyderabad, two police officers posted at Saifabad Traffic police station were transferred by City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and attached to the City Armed Reserve Head Quarters.

The officials, Inspector Gangaram and Sub-Inspector Chandrashekar Reddy, were asked to immediately report to Additional Commissioner of Police Headquarters. The transfers were on administrative grounds, was what the orders stated.

The Andhra Pradesh Police in their report said that the accused Rakesh Reddy was in touch with both Malla Reddy and Srinivasulu after he committed the murder and this also established as per the call data recovered from Rakesh Reddy's phone. The Telangana police higher-ups have said that once they receive a detailed report from the Andhra Pradesh Police they will decide as to what action has to be taken against both the police officers.

The accused had developed friendship with Malla Reddy when he was involved in a land grabbing case in Kongarakalan in June 28 ,where he was a co accused in the crime along with oneJithender Reddy as mentioned in the FIR. In that case he became " friendly " with the cop. This was also mentioned by Rakesh Reddy in his confession and when these details came out , Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat issued orders for his transfer. Malla Reddy joined the police force in 2012 and had worked in Peddapalli, Otnuru and Ibrahimpatnam areas. He is also known to have been involved in several settlement cases. He is said to have gone to the media to give his version of the phone call and said that Rakesh Reddy had called him and told that he had a fight and one of them was injured is what he said. The murder happened on the 1st of February and he had not spoken about this till Tuesday February 5, that too after Rakesh Reddy was caught and the media got wind of it that it was he who murdered the businessman.

The question that arose was that why he didn't share these details with the Nandigama police officials when the investigation had already started.

There were many loose ends and the roles of ACP Malla Reddy and SI Sreenivasulu have to be probed further and if any incriminating evidence is gathered from the call data ,they will also be named in the list of accused who helped Rakesh Reddy in the murder cover-up.
