Tortured By Husband, Nellore Woman Commits Suicide
Nellore: Unable to bear her husband's torture, a woman committed suicide here on Sunday at Nellore. According to the locals and police, Sultani alias Supriya (24) and Chandrasekhar fell in love and got married eight years ago. They had two children. They were happy for some time, but later, Chandrasekhar got addicted to alcohol and spent money earned on drinking. The couple got into frequent quarrels.
Supriya had been asking her husband to mend his ways but he did not do so. A dejected Supriya went to her parent's house. Later, the village elders convinced the couple. During the festival of Diwali, once again an argument broke out between the couple and Supriya went to her house.
Chandrasekhar went to his father-in-law's house and attacked her family. During the fight, Supriya's mother got injured and suffered a fracture of her hand. She also filed a complaint with the women's police station. They counseled the couple and sent them back. After two, three days, he again started harassing her again. Since her mother's hand was broken, Supriya used to cook in her mother's house too.
On Sunday morning, during the course of an argument, Chandrasekhar beat her mercilessly and went out. Supriya suffered a severe head injury and was mentally disturbed over the incident. She sent her children out of the house and locked the door and committed suicide by hanging herself.
When Supriya's mother Masthanamma visited her daughter's house, she found her dead. The locals broke open the door and informed police who reached the spot and collected the details.
They also filed a case and started probing the matter. The victim's family and the locals requested the police to take immediate action against Chandrasekhar.
