Electric Pole Lying On Road Claims Young Life Near Vizianagaram
Vizianagaram: The negligence of Andhra Pradesh government officials claimed the life of a girl in Vizianagaram. The incident took place on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Yalla Prashanthi (20).
According to locals, an electric pole fell after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday night at Kothavalasa-Devarapalli highway. This disrupted the power supply in the surrounding villages. The officials erected a new electricity pole on Sunday morning while leaving the old pole lying on the road.
The victim, identified as Yalla Prashanthi, was a resident of Narsipatnam and preparing for competitive exams after finishing her B.Tech. She went to Valabi waterfalls along with her friends on Sunday morning.
When she tried to overtake a bus while returning on a two-wheeler via Devada-Musseram, she hit the current pole lying on the road. During the accident, she died on the spot after suffering severe head injury. The police removed the pole and cleared traffic. They sent the body for post-mortem and are interrogating the victim's friends Santosh and two others.
