Hydrogen Balloon Blast At KTR’s uppal Roadshow Burns Six

Hyderabad:  A fire mishap took place during a Roadshow in Uppal. The show, organised by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, left six people with burns. All this occurred before caretaker minister K.T. Rama Rao could reach the destination.The cause of fire at the spot is said to be the blast of hydrogen balloons which were being carried by a TRS worker. According to reports, the balloons exploded into the crowd. Hydrogen is  an inflammable gas and use of it in such balloons, is dangerous. Helium is to be opted, which is stable and non-combustible.

The incident happened close to the Uppal Metro Rail station. All this happened when scores of TRS supporters gathered to attend  KTR’s Roadshow. Pink helium-filled balloons and party flags were carried by the party supporters who were there to attend the meeting. Raghupathi Reddy, one of the many supporters present there, released some balloons into the air at 3.58 pm. In a split of the second, balloons exploded into a ball of flame.

Police were quick to move those hurt to Siva Sai Hospital for treatment. Four of them have been identified as Reguri Vinay, K. Badrinath, Nikhil, Sandeep. There were two more, a minor boy and an old man who, were also injured. All the injured are residents of Uppal, Ramanthapur and Medipally.

Live witness who saw the explosion, said “It lasted for just a second. There was fire with a sound.”

Uppal police  said that based on Vinay’s complaint, a case was registered against Raghupathi Reddy under IPC Sections 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant) and 337 (causing hurt). The victims were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment, added Rachakonda police official.

A explosion of this kind had taken place earlier druing Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Jabalpur on October 8.
