Man Hacks Mother-In-Law To Death In East Godavari District

East Godavari: A man allegedly killed his mother-in-law by using a machete. The incident took place on Monday at Jaggampet, Andhra Pradesh.

The deceased Baviri Chantamma (65) is from Kothapalli. Her daughter was married to the accused Jaajimuggula Durga Prasad three years ago. They have a two-year-old son.

Durga, a physically challenged woman works in Velugu office. She came to her mother's house since she had differences with her husband. Durga Prasad held a grudge against his mother-in-law and suspected her to be the cause of his estrangement with his wife. He had argued several times with her on this earlier.

On Monday, he came to Kothapalli and after an argument he allegedly attacked Chantamma. During the attack, her wrist was severed. The locals tried to stop him but in vain. Chantamma died on the spot due to severe injuries on her neck and back.

The police who learned of the matter, came to the spot and took Durga Prasad into custody. It is learned that the accused was drunk. Korukonda CI Ravi Kumar reached the place and collected the details. They sent the body to Rajahmundry government hospital for autopsy.
