Cheated By Lover, Suryapet Woman Attempts Suicide 

Suryapet: A woman attempted to commit suicide after being cheated by her lover. The incident took place on Tuesday in front of the district police office.

According to the victim's family members, Umarani daughter of Kakkireni Sattaiah hails from Pinnaipalem and used to work in Hyderabad after completing her graduation. Suddhabavi Srikanth from Damaracharla works in SBI, Chundur and met Umarani through his relative called Jaya.

Two years back, Jaya asked Umarani to come Tallaveerappagudem where she was locked in a room. Later Jaya gave a cooldrink to Umarani, mixed with sleeping pills. After she fell unconsious, Srikanth went to her room and raped her. Umarani learned of the matter and questioned Jaya and Srikanth who hoped that she would marry him since they both belong to the same caste. For the past two years, Srikanth had been raping Umarani saying that he will marry her. But it turned out that Srikanth's marriage was fixed with some other girl and Jaya infiormed Umarani about Srikanth's marriage two months ago.

When Umarani tried to contact Srikanth, he didn't answer her phone call. Meanwhile,twenty days ago, Umarani went to meet DSP Nageswara Rao, Suryapet and pleaded with him for justice. "The DSP wouldn't file a case since the incident did not take place in Suryapet," said the family members.

Umarani went to meet district SP on Tuesday along with her family members but the officer had some other appointments. A depressed Umarani,tiredof waiting, consumed pesticide. Immediately, the family members shifted her to the area hospital where is undergoing the treatment.
