Karthika Maasam Dip In Vizag Yerada Beach Turns Fatal For Youngsters

Visakhapatnam: What was supposed to be a fun trip turned into a tragedy for a group of ten young boys who had gone swimming at the Yarada beach in Visakhapatnam.

Six of them went missing and are feared to have drowned when they were caught in a strong current that dragged them deep into the sea while the other four were rescued by the community guards.

Police said that these boys were from HB Colony in Visakhapatnam and had gone to the beach to bathe as it was the first Monday of the Karthika month. The missing youth included D. Vasu, P. Tirupathi, K. Srinivas, N. Ganesh, Rajesh and Durga Rao, aged between 20 and 22 years. One of them was an ITI student and another an autorickshaw driver.

Search operations have been launched to trace the missing boys, the police said. Yarada beach is known to have choppy waters and waves which are huge and dangerous. Divers have been called and search operations have been launched to trace the missing boys, the police said.
