Chennai Police Crack Kidnap Case In Hours

Chennai: A.K. Viswanathan, City police commissioner of Chennai on Tuesday praised and announced a reward for the police team which cracked a kidnap case within eight hours of the incident. The kidnap incident took place in Puliyantope. He rewarded the Puliyantope inspector M. Ravi, Sub Inspectors and constables along with Mohammed Riyaz (30) who installed CCTV at his house, providing key leads to cracking the case.

According to the police, Prakash (30) is a fish vendor in Puliyantope. On Monday, he dropped his three-year-old son, Ajay at school close to his house. He went to pick up his son in the evening, but couldn't find the boy. He was shocked to learn that his son went missing. Later, he came to know through the class teacher that his son was kidnapped by two men at the school.

Prakash lodged a complaint at the Puliyantope police station and based on his complaint, the police formed a special team led by Inspector M Ravi who launched a search for the accused. After scouring through the CCTV footage from the cameras which were installed in the house of Riyas, the police solved the case in eight hours.

The police arrested N Kuttiammal (38) and her daughter T Aishwarya (20). In the interrogation, they confessed the crime that they kidnapped the boy to sell at a cost of 1 lakh rupees. Later they were sent to remand under judicial custody.
