Guntur Online Conman Arrested

Guntur: A man was arrested for cheating 507 people online. The accused in the same manner once earlier and thought he would earn money using the same formula.

He cheated people online to the extent of around Rs.21.28 lakhs by conning people into thinking he was a woman. The incident came to light when one of the victims approached the police. The police arrested the accused who belongs to the Guntur district. SP CH Vijaya Rao revealed the case details on Friday.

The victim who got attracted to a woman whose photos were posted online by the accused transferred Rs 17,500 to the accused. When he called, the accused blocked him following which the victim filed a complaint. Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused.

The police took him into custody at a hotel in Guntur and on interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The police seized Rs 8 lakh, a car, a laptop and three cell phones.
