Hyderabad: A robbery took place in the early hours of Saturday on the Yashwantpur Express train. It is learned that the robbery took place between 3 - 4 AM on Saturday. The train heading from Bengaluru to Hyderabad via Mahabubnagar district became a target of robbers near Divitisimi forest area.

The passengers were robbed of 24 tolas gold and 4 mobile phones. They filed complaint with the railway police when the train reached Kachiguda railway station. Telangana DGP Mahender Reddy enquired about the incident.

The railway police officials reacted to the robbery and said they will nab the criminals very soon.

In a similar incident, A gang of 15 members barged into a moving train and robbed passengers on Thursday near Gooty in Andhra Pradesh.

The gang, suspected to be a part of the notorious Parthi gang robbed gold from three passengers including a newly wed couple. Soon after the train arrived at the Kacheguda railway station, the victims lodged a complaint with the railway police. The police officials said that they will alert the Gooty police and transfer the case to them as the robbery occurred in that region.

The robbery took place in coaches S10 and S11 of Venkatadri Express when the victims were returning to Hyderabad from Tirupati. The couple told the police they had lost 4 tolas of gold which the woman was wearing. Other women passengers also alleged that they have too lost their chains.

The railway police suspected the miscreants could have tampered with the railway signal system near Gooty to sneak into the train and commit the robbery.
