Chennai: Aspiring Tamil actress Nilani attempted suicide on Thursday. She is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in KK Nagar and her condition is said to be critical. A few days ago, she filed a complaint against her boyfriend Gandhi Lalith Kumar at Milapur police station over harassing for marriage. Depressed Lalith Kumar had committed self-immolation and committed suicide. Meanwhile, Nilani went missing and police tried to find her.

Later, she went to the Chennai police commissioner's office and filed a complaint against Lalith Kumar saying he had borrowed some money and cheated her. She also mentioned that she was not the reason behind the suicide of her boyfriend.

But, Lalith Kumar's brother lodged a complaint against Nilani over his brother's death and accused the actress of abetting Laith Kumar's suicide. The police has started investigating the case.

On Thursday, Nilani consumed mosquito repellent and attempted suicide. It is learned that her condition is still critical.

Earlier, Nilani was arrested and released on bail for taking part in Sterlite protests in a police uniform which went viral on social media channels.

Nilani is a popular television actress. It is learned that she was in love with Gandhi Lalith Kumar. Over the past few days, they had some friction between them, it is learned.

On Sunday, when Nilani was on the sets of a TV serial at Milapur, Gandhi Lalith Kumar came there and is reported to have threatened her to marry him. Then Nilani filed a complaint against Lalith Kumar.
