Is Inter-caste Marriage Crime: Honour Killing Victim

Hyderabad: Sandeep, who was attacked by his father-in-law at Erragadda interacted with the media today and alleged that Manohara Chari attacked Madhavi in an extremely violent way. Chari attacked his daughter for marring out of her caste, and a Dalit boy at that.

Madhavi, who was severely injured is undergoing treatment at Yashoda hospital and her condition is still critical while Sandeep suffered from minor injuries.

"Chari repeatedly called me by my caste. Is it a crime to marry a girl from another caste?," asked Sandeep. Chari attacked Madhavi in a pre-meditated manner with a sickle. He first asked them to meet him at Erragadda. After a brief conversation, while returning home, Chari attacked Madhavi with a sickle and attempted to kill her. When Sandeep escaped, he attacked Madhavi. Sandeep told media persons that he never imagined that Madhavi's father would try to attack her in such a gruesome manner.

In 2015, Madhavi's mother threatened them, he recalled. Sandeep said that Chari seemed inebriated when he attempted to murder his daughter in a fit of rage. Sandeep has sought justice for him and Madhavi.

After a lengthy surgical procedure, Madhavi is battling for her life. Specialists have said that her condition is under observation and her condition continues to be critical.
