Harassed By Husband For Dowry, Woman Kills Baby, Self

Karimnagar: A married woman committed suicide along with her four year-old daughter. Ramya and Burla Ganesh got married five years ago and after two years, a girl child Manushri (4) was born to the couple.

Ganesh took Rs 3.5 lakh cash at the time of marriage as dowry. After the birth of Manushri, Ganesh stopped working and began staying at home without work.

Meanwhile, Ganesh, his parents Posaiah and Komuramma and his sister Vanitha started harassing Ramya physically and mentally to bring extra dowry. Her parents tried to bring about a reconciliation in vain.

Still, Ramya's parents gave the money in installments. Unsatisfied Ganesh harassed Ramya to bring more dowry. A few months ago, Ganesh was all set to sell his two acres of land but Ramya stopped him. The couple are said to have had an argument over this. Her parents convinced Ganesh not to sell the land and deposited a cash amount of one lakh rupees in the name of Manushri. They also suggested to Ganesh to start a supermarket and also bought all the necessary items. On Tuesday night, the couple had an argument. A depressed Ramya took her daughter and jumped into a well.

The locals found the dead bodies floating in a well in the early hours of Wednesday and informed Ramya's parents. Huzurabad ACP T Krupakar and MRO Ramesh reached the spot. Based on the complaint given by Ramya's father, the police filed a case against Ganesh, Komuramma, Posaiah and Vanitha. Minister Eetela Rajender conveyed his condolences to the victim's family. He asked to take special action on the accused.
