Lovers Attacked, Boyfriend’s Hand Chopped 

Bengaluru: In a ghastly incident, a couple were waylaid and the married woman’s boyfriend was attacked brutally and his hand chopped by unknown assailants. The incident took place on Tuesday night under Bannerghatta police station limits near here. A 25-year-old woman from Chitradurga got married to a youth from the same district a month ago.

It is learnt that she was involved in a relationship with another youth from Tumkur district, Ravish (32), prior to her marriage. Ravish had been working as a home guard and eloped with the woman a week ago, after she was married against her will to another man.

On Tuesday night, the two set out for a visit to Hanuman temple in Bannerghatta and when they were in a desolate forest region, Ravish was set upon by unknown assailants. He was attacked with deadly weapons. In a horrific twist to the crime, the attackers chopped his right hand and carried it with them. The woman shifted the victim with the help of local residents to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Police are probing the incident.
