Harassment Drives Bapatla Woman To Attempt Suicide
Guntur: A married woman who was harassed by a man attempted to commit suicide. The victim felt ashamed by the advances of the accused.
According to the police, the victim went to Bapatla for shopping to buy new clothes for her son. The accused Nallamothu Bheemayya, a resident of the same village stopped the lady and tried to force her to come along with him on his bike. In a state of panic, the woman went into the nearest shop to escape from his clutches.
The woman later reached the local bus stand to go to Kankatapalem. Again Bheemayya came to her, and tried to force her to go with him. She managed to break free and went to her parent's house Chebrolu. Along with her parents, she went to the house of the accused to complain about his sexual advances and his unseemly behaviour. The family of the accused felt offended by her accusations, defended him and threatened them.
Meanwhile, the victim consumed pesticides and attempted suicide. Immediately, the parents rushed her to the Ponnur private hospital. Bapatla DSP D Gangadharam learned about the matter and took up investigation of the case. They later filed an SC-ST atrocity case against the accused.
