Hyderabad: A girl student committed suicide here on Tuesday under the limits of Saroornagar police station. Dharani Sayilu and Manjula have three children of whom Archana (15) was the eldest. Dharani works as an RTC bus conductor. Archana was pursuing her Intermediate first year at Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Chaitanyapuri.

The parents had paid Rs 50,000 of the one lakh two months ago. Over the last few days, the college staff has been reportedly pestering Archana to pay the balance amount. After celebrating Rakhi, she returned to college on Tuesday.

It is learned that she directly went to the hostel room and hanged herself. The students who came to the room during lunch break, found Archana hanging. They immediately informed the hostel warden and rushed Aarchana to Omni hospital. The doctors declared her brought dead. Then they shifted her to Osmania hospital and informed the police. Later, the college was closed. The police called the victim's parents.

The parents alleged that they were ready to pay the balance amount in a week but the college management had harassed their daughter and pushed her to death. The student associations reached the college and demanded justice.

AISF, TRSV, TNSF, NSUI and ABVP demanded that the college officials be punished severely. They alleged that the students were being harassed in the name of fees.
