Chennai Rapist Who Abducted Women At Knife-Point Held

Suresh - Sakshi Post

Chennai: Suresh, a cab driver, was arrested for raping a 35 year-old woman here. He is reported to have admitted to commiting similar atrocities on 10 other women over the past one year, most of whom had not not approached the cops. Suresh targeted women walking alone on deserted streets, chatted them up and offered them a ride. He took them to a desolate place and then raped them at knife-point. Later, he robbed them of their jewelry.

Suresh is reported to have told the police that he was enamoured of married women and therefore preyed on women walking alone on deserted streets in Adyar, Tiruvanniyur and Nilamgarai of East Coast Road.

The 35 year-old victim, who ran a roadside shop, complained to the police that the accused took her to an isolated place in a car and raped her at knife-point. She noted down the number of the car which led police directly to Suresh, who was taken into custody.

The incidents did not come to light earlier as none of the previous victims approached the police, who have now appealed to others to come forward promising confidentiality. Police said that Suresh is the accused in a 2014 rape case involving a minor.
