Travel Agent Held For Peddling Cocaine
Hyderabad: The Anti-Narcotic Cell of the Prohibition and Excise Department arrested a 38-year travel agency owner for allegedly selling cocaine sachets to people known to him in the city.
During a vehicle check on Road Number 36 in Jubilee Hills, Abdul Hameed who belongs to Adilabad district was caught while he was traveling in a car. The officials checked the car and found 31 cocaine sachets, each weighing one gram, Rs 7 lakh rupees cash and two mobile phones. The details were revealed by C Vivekananda Reddy, Excise Deputy Commissioner at a press conference on Monday.
Hameed is the owner of a travel agency at Khairatabad, and arranges tours for travelers to places like Ooty and Goa. In Goa, he met one Max and started smuggling drugs from Goa to the city. He sells each gram for Rs 6,000 and earns a commission of Rs 2,000 from Max, police said. Telephone calls, WhatsApp messages, contacts of customers will be analysed soon in the course of investigation.
The case papers of Hameed were submitted to the Jubilee Hills Excise officials for necessary action. "The names of 20 customers in Hameed's mobile phone were identified but the contacts were saved in other names. Efforts are on to identify them as well the drug smuggler from Goa." Reddy said.
