Nallakunta Bank Official Strangles Pregnant Wife To Death, Jumps In Front Of MMTS

The police discovered Sumalatha’s dead body in the bedroom and sent it for post-mortem on Sunday - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: A bank official, Mekala Madhav (30), strangled his pregnant wife, Sumalatha (25), to death and committed suicide by jumping in front of an MMTS local train here on Saturday. Marital discord is said to have driven him to resort to this cold-blooded act, followed by suicide.

Madhav of Miryalaguda, got married to Sumalatha from Kethepalli in Nalgonda district last October. The bride's parents gave him a dowry of Rs. 6 lakhs in cash and three tolas in gold ornaments. Their marital life was free of hassles for some time. The couple rented an apartment in Nallakunta, near the Syndicate Bank branch, where Madhav was employed. Sumalatha, who was seven months pregnant, had been staying with her parents in their village for some time. She returned with her mother only last Monday. After staying with her daughter for a day, Sumalatha's mother left for their village on Wednesday.

Madhav, who seemed to be in a disturbed state, strangled his wife with her dupatta (scarf) and leaving her body in the bedroom of their apartment, locked their house. He headed to the railway station close to the place and committed suicide by jumping in front of a local train. Railway police who identified the deceased based on his ID card, notified his parents.

Madhav's parents in turn called Sumalatha's mother who rushed to Hyderabad to find the apartment locked. The police discovered Sumalatha's dead body in the bedroom and sent it for post-mortem on Sunday. Nallakunta police are probing the case.
