Girl Hangs Self After Tiff With Mother Over Household Chores

Hyderabad: A 20-year-old degree student committed suicide on Friday after being chided by her mother.

Shalini took the extreme step as her mother Durga scolded her over not helping with household chores on Thursday. The fight intensified when the duo started arguing with each other which pushed Shalini into a state of depression. Enraged over her mother's words, she ended her life on Friday morning by hanging herself to the ceiling fan when her parents stepped out on a temple visit.

After they returned home, Shalini's parents Shivaraj and Durga called out for her to open the door which was locked from the inside. As there was no response from their daughter, Shalini's father peeped through the window of the house and was shocked to see her hanging to the fan.

With the help of neighbours, they opened the door and brought her body down. The police registered a suicide case and handed over the body after the autopsy.
