Man Absconds After Cheating Teenage Girlfriend

Jayapuram: In a bizarre incident that happened in Odisha's Nabrangpur district, a man who promised to marry his 12-year-old girlfriend absconded after allegedly having a sexual affair with the girl. According to reports, Dharmendra Pathro (20), a resident of Amvalabhata in Navrangpur district, had an affair with a teenager from the same village.

After their parents agreed for their marriage, the two started living together. Recently, the teenager alleged that Dharmendra harassed her in demand for dowry. She also accused him of threatening to oust her out of the house if the dowry was not given.

Responding to the incident, Nabrangpur Maa Ghara Foundation President Kadambari Tripathi filed a case on behalf of the victim. The case has been filed and police are in search of the accused. The investigation is underway, SI Abhimanyu Durga said.
