Drunk TRS Men Assault ASI Staff

Warangal: The Officials of the Archaeological Survey of India were physically assaulted by TRS members for moving a Kakatiya period artefact. The officials were shifting a huge tub which was used by the Kakatiya rulers to feed animals.
The tub had been placed inside the bushes of a private land which is beside the Talla Padmavathi College near Ursu Gutta in Warangal. The Archaeology department had discovered the tub in 1970 but the officials had never shifted it. Recently, the district collector provided the required equipment for shifting. Five cranes, a heavy load truck and a excavator was used for shifting.

They shifted the tub on Thursday night. Meanwhile, a few people who are said to be followers of a local ruling party leader stopped them and asked the officials how they could move the artefact without getting required permission from the local leaders. They replied that they were following the orders of the district collector and also the archaeology department.
The TRS members, who were drunk, bashed the officials and workers. Archaeology department senior assistant Ramesh, assistant engineer from Kuda, Warangal Urban district tourism consultant P Aravind, foreman Subhash and Bharat were injured in the attack.

Assistant director Archaeology department G. Ganga Devi stated that they would lodge a complaint in the local police station on Saturday.
“The senior assistants and the officials were severely injured in the attack. The assailants must be severely punished for beating up the officers who were on duty” She said.
After the involvement of Collector and the commissioner of police on Saturday, the ancient tub was moved to the museum in Warangal fort with Police Security.
