Cricketer Collapses, Dies On Field

A cricketer playing in the local league in Kasargod stadium in northern Kerala collapsed and died on field as he was about to start his run-up to bowl. His death was instantaneous.
Padmanabh (20) was all set to bowl to the batsman from the pavilion end. He suddenly slumped to the ground. The remaining players on the ground rushed to him and tried to resuscitate him. When that failed, they called for medical help. The doctors, who rushed to the field, found him already dead. The video of Padmanabh’s last moments has gone viral on the social media. A case has been registered with the Manjeswar police station.
It may be recalled that Ankit Kesri, a Bengal cricketer died after he collided with another player in 2015. Similarly, Australian batsman Phil Hughes died in 2014 after being hit by bouncer on field. %
