IPL trophy - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Only two days to the mega Indian Premier League finale at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, the ticket sales are not clear.

On Tuesday, within minutes of going online, tickets were 'sold out'. However, a day after when Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the all-important qualifier match to Delhi Capitals, tickets were available again online on Thursday. Tickets are sold at Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500.

To curb black marketing of tickets, the BCCI has announced to sell tickets online from this year. All the information on ticket sales is also put up online.

Chennapanaidu Darapaneni, CEO of EventsNow, which is the online ticketing platform for IPL tickets told a leading daily that tickets are sold in multiple phases and based on the teams making to the final, the BCCI releases the tickets.

The BCCI also have certain contractual obligations with sponsors, franchisees, etc. Based on which teams make it to final, the corresponding franchisees will also like to buy tickets. Hence, the tickets are put up for sale in phases, he said.

On being asked if Sunrisers Hyderabad loss will affect ticket sales, Darapaneni says that ticket demands are high and it won’t make any difference which team makes to the final.
