Hyderabad: They destroyed 7.3 acres of sugarcane crop for the land pooling proramme to build a new capital, Amaravathi, and assured that compensation will be paid in a couple of days.

After two months of that incident and with no traces of those crops, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the designated authority of Andhra Pradesh government incharge of land pooling, has sent a letter to the aggrieved farmers in Lingayapalem. The letter states that a competent authority will soon visit the destroyed fields and estimate the amount of compensation to be disbursed.
The letter has only compounded the misery of the farmers, Gundapu Rajesh and Gundapu Chandrasekhar. They claim that the compensation was promised to be paid within two days and secondly after two months only a letter is sent to study the quantum of compensation. "What estimation of the fields will be done when the crops have become dust and there is no trace of any crops now," they questioned.
The crops were destroyed using three bulldozers by the deputy collector Sitarama Murthy, despite protests by the Gundapu brothers that do not wish to part with their land and want to continue agriculture.
