Crackdown Continues On City Hotels For Unhygienic Conditions

Hyderabad: In an ongoing crackdown, popular Briyani Darbar hotel in Habsiguda was sealed on Monday for unhygienic conditions and five more hotels were fined by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Sitara bar & restaurant in IDPL crossroads and Ratana restaurant in Chakripuram were fined Rs20,000 for selling non-veg items made of unauthorized meat. Grand Swatgath hotel in Ramanathapur and Green Bawarchi hotel in Kapra were imposed fine of Rs5,000 for unhygienic kitchens.

A GHMC official said that Swagat hotel in Kapra although it maintained sanitation and used meat from authorized slaughter houses it was fined of Rs5,000 for using stale meat.

Recently, Ohris and Minerva Grand among several hotels in the city were fined for serving non-veg items made of unauthorized meat on April 4. The GHMC teams inspecting hotels found most of them were using meat from unauthorized slaughter houses as these places sell meat for a cheaper price.
