CPM Expresses Solidarity With Fasting YSRCP MPs
New Delhi: YSR Congress Party has been relentlessly fighting for achieving Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and the stir has further intensified after the MPs resigned and took up indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi at the AP Bhavan. The protest, which entered its second day today, is receiving overwhelming response from everyone including other political parties.
Senior CPM leader and party National General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri today paid a visit to the hunger strike camp at AP Bhavan and expressed his support to the fasting YSRCP MPs. CPM has also expressed solidarity with the indefinite hunger strike taken up by YSRCP MPs.
"We had already informed that the bifurcation was done unscientifically and anticipated these problems," Yechuri mentioned. He informed that Venkaiah Naidu had earlier told that SCS to AP would be given for 10 years and not five years. But the BJP government has not honoured its promises, he added.
