Court to CBI, how long do you intend to keep Jagan in jail? - Sakshi Post

Principal special judge U Durga Prasad Rao of the CBI Court on Thursday extended till February 27 the judicial remand of YSR Congress Party chief, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The court demanded to know from the CBI what was the status of the probe and the specific reasons for extending the remand of YS Jagan. The Judge also asked the CBI to inform the court about progress made with regard to probe in Jagan's case by February 27.

The court directed the agency to submit the memo of progress if the investigation. It is learnt that the CBI's counsel was seen singing the old tune saying, Jagan would influence the witnesses if let out.

Intervening at this point, Jagan's lawyer asked how long would the CBI take to file the chargesheet. The lawyer alleged that the CBI was wasting time by seeking more time for the probe.

He also said that the CBI was not clear on the date they would complete the investigation. It was against the constitution to deprive Jagan right to lead a decent life, he alleged.

The counsel said that it was improper on the part of CBI to keep Jagan in jail without any specific reason except that he would influence the witness.

Meanwhile, the court also extended the judicial remand of former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and senior bureaucrat K V Brahmananda Reddy, and OMC accused  Gali Janardhan Reddy,  B V Srinivas Reddy and Mehfuz Ali Khan till February 27.

They were produced before the court today through video conference.
