Court questions govt. on blocking website
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday responded to the petition filed by a Congress leader about the downed government website where various GOs are updated for public access, and ordered the government to inform by Monday, the time needed by them to fix it.
Justice Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court, was responding to the petition filed by the Congress leader D. Sravan Kumar who had challenged the action of the state in denying public access to the website.
Calling it to be arbitrary, contrary to the provisions of the constitution, and going against the spirit of the Right to Information Act, the judge inquired into the state's abrupt decision to pull down the website.
The government counsel informed the judge that the government had not decided to cut off the website completely but the website was being redesigned and once the changes were affected, it would be made available to the public again.
Justice Sanjay Kumar then asked the government counsel to inform him by Monday, the possible time they will take to restore the website.
