Cop attacked for preventing abusive dances

A sub-inspector, who tried to stop abusive record dances was attacked and roughed up by a mob in Guntur district.

According to reports reaching here, sub-inspector Shafi went to Rukminipuram village in Machavaram mandal of Guntur district on a tip off on recording dances being organized in the village. He was rounded up by the locals and manhandled. His car was damaged and glass doors were broken in the raid. Later, a posse of policemen reached the village and lathi-charged the people. Police said the situation was under control in the village.
