Constable alleges Trinamool MP slapped him; police, MP deny - Sakshi Post

Kolkata: A traffic constable on duty today alleged that Trinamool Congress MP Prasun Banerjee slapped him when his car was not allowed to forcibly enter a road, a charge which the parliamentarian denied.

Officials of Lake Town police station, where the constable is posted, said no such incident took place and no complaint has been registered by anyone in this regard. The car (Banerjee's) wanted to take the wrong route and tried to forcibly enter the road. As I asked the driver to wait for a while, he refused to listen and told me to call anybody I wanted to, the constable from Bidhannagar Police Commissionarete told a vernacular news channel. When I said that I will note down the car's number, he (driver) called Banerjee. Banerjee said do you know what you are saying and then slapped me, the constable, posted at Lake Town area, alleged. When inquired about the incident, DC (headquarters) Bidhanagar Police Subrata Banerjee declined to comment. No such incident had occurred and no complaint has been registered by anyone in connection with the alleged incident, officer in-charge of Lake Town police station Supriyo Das said. Banerjee, a former Indian football team captain, denied the allegation saying I have never indulged in any such activity and will not ever do so. I had only requested him that I be allowed to go as I had an important meeting to attend, he said. The constable shouted that I will not be allowed whatever the reason may be and whether I am an MP or not, he claimed. Banerjee also claimed that the constable's colleagues present there told him that he was a mental patient and that he was undergoing treatment.
