Conman withdraws 5 lakh, re-deposits in hours - Sakshi Post

Claiming to be a bank officer, a conman duped a gullible bank customer and withdrew Rs 5 lakh from his account.

The incident occurred in Nalgonda town.

Orange trader Dada Basha received a phone call from an anonymous caller claiming to be a high level bank officer. The caller told Basha that there was a technical glitch in his ATM PIN and asked him to give the number. An unsuspecting Basha revealed the number.

Moments later, on suspicion, he checked in a nearest ATM and found that Rs 5 lakh were withdrawn. The caller had moved the funds from Basha’s account into his account through National Electronic Fund Transfer System.

A shocked Basha immediately lodged a complaint and blocked his account. Meanwhile, the caller developed cold feed at re deposited the amount in Basha’s account.

The police have begun investigation.
