Congress High Command Does Not Accord Permission To Padayatra, Says Komatireddy
Senior Congress leader and MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that the Congress Party would get anywhere between 60 to 70 seats if little effort is made. In a free-wheeling chitchat with the media at the media point in the Telangana Assembly, he said the Congress can easily win up to 50 seats in Telangana Assembly elections. Little more effort could make the tally go up to 60 or 70.
When asked if the party leaders would take out a padayatra to mobilise the voters against the TRS Government, Komatireddy said the Congress High Command does not give permission for padayatras. "In the past, I and Bhatti Vikramarka sought permission for taking out a padayatra. But, no permission was given," he said and added that Ghulam Nabi Azad had opposed even the padayatra of late YSR. He said he was not sure if permission would be given this time.
On Revanth Reddy, he said it remains to be seen if Revanth Reddy submits his resignation letter in speaker format. If he fights the bypoll, he would win hands down. "We will all campaign for him in Kodangal," he said.
