Cong remark: Fin min for action against KCR
The war of words over TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao's critical comments on the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family showed no sign of abatement. Taking exception to Rao's remarks made at a protest in Hyderabad two days ago, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said action needs to be taken against him as per law.
Describing Rao's comments as indecent, the minister said he would demand the Chief Minister to take action.
Charging that the Congress has betrayed Telangana, Rao had said Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and now Sonia Gandhi let the people of Telangana down.
Nehru did in Telangana by merging the region with Andhra, Indira Gandhi killed 369 students and Sonia Gandhi is now harassing Telangana people, he had said.
Dubbing Rao as the leader of a sub-regional party, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy yesterday lashed out at him over the former's diatribe against the Nehru-Gandhi family.
Faulting the Congress for not accepting the separate Telangana demand despite a massive agitation being carried out for separate statehood, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao had said the Congress lacked the democratic spirit to respect people's wish.
TRS and other Telangana supporters were angry over the alleged delay in formation of Telangana, though Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had reportedly said in December a decision on the issue would be taken in a month's time.
Meanwhile, Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman M Kodandaram said today that citizens have a right to criticise the top leaders as an expression of their feelings.
