Cong MP from Telangana seeks ban on IPL New Delhi
New Delhi: A strong plea for imposing a ban on IPL was made by a Congress MP from Telangana On Thursday, in the wake of alleged controversies surrounding it.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress MP Gutha Sukender Reddy said the latest revelations and evolving stories on IPL have led to widespread doubts about the format.
The controversies surrounding BCCI needs no introduction, he said, alleging that the award of telecast rights sponsorships and its annual revenues and expenditures are often tarnished with rampant corruption and lack of transparency.
Of late, the Gentleman's game has become carcinogenic with the introduction of 20 over limited format cricket called Indian Premier League, Reddy said, adding that Lati Modi is the creator of this league.
The Prime Minister, Reddy said, should take a serious note of the matter by imposing ban on IPL and ensure a democratic, accountable and transparent body of cricket is created at the national level.
