Bengaluru: A day after the lesbian wedding was doing the rounds, the older woman of the couple was sacked by the Zefo company, an e-commerce portal that deals with refurbished goods, etc. The 25-year-old woman said that she was sacked after a media channel - Public TV - aired her blurred pictures taken from her Facebook account.

"The management called me and asked me whether I want to continue in the job or not. They asked me to talk to my parents and get back. When I reverted in the evening, they said HR decided that I leave the company as they know that it's me who is making the rounds in the media from morning," the woman said.

The sacking came after the Public TV aired her pictures in its 9am and 5.30pm bulletins. The woman then called up the television channel that telecast her pictures, and was outraged by their response, who told the woman, "The story was also carried by the Bangalore Mirror and there was no wrong in their action."

It is ridiculous that somebody is getting fired from her workplace for a decision taken in her personal life. It only proves that how unsafe the landscape for us and why we need to anti-discrimination policy to protect our rights

The woman also cleared the air who said that they haven’t got married and only lived together, adding that, it was wrongly publicized by the father of the other woman. "No one can just claim that it's her and throw her out of the company. They told her it's very evident from what the TV channels have showed in the visuals, and did this. We did not get married at all. In fact, I'm related to her and we live in the same house. This is really not acceptable," the younger woman said.

Meanwhile, the LGBT community reacted sternly about the sacking of the woman, and started a campaign to boycott the e-commerce portal - gozefo.com. "Instead of supporting an employee during her crisis, you make it worse - what work ethic is this? What kind of business moral drives this company? This kind of hatred should be nipped in the bud. I boycott all their services and encourage everyone else to do so, till they apologize and reinstate her, with proper damages paid," said Romal Singh, another LGBTIQ activist.

Roomi Harish of the Alternative Law Forum said that the sacking done by the company is bad and did that without even having a word with her.

A senior member of the company Zefo said, "Some disturbing news about the termination of a Zefo employee came to our attention late last night. There is zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind at Zefo. We are a young, passionate organization committed to creating an inclusive workplace — and no discrimination will ever be tolerated. Please give us some time to find out all the facts of the matter. We are treating this with the utmost seriousness and will do all we can to set things right."
